Independent Study Contract
INDEPENDENT STUDY AGREEMENT (ISA)
If it is necessary for parents to keep their children out of school for planned absences up to 15 days per school year, the District requests that an Independent Study Agreement (ISA) be used as an alternative to classroom instruction. An ISA allows teachers to assign work to be completed while the student is absent to help the student stay current with their classes and to excuse the absences.
The request for an ISA should be made at least 10 school days prior to the planned absence. Once a parent has completed the top portion of Page 1 and the student and parent have both signed Page 2, the ISA should be submitted to the front office or to makellerman@capousd.org. The ISA will be verified and forwarded to the teacher(s) so they can complete the Assignment Sheet and send a copy of it, along with any required support materials, home with the student prior to the start of the ISA.
All work assigned as part of the ISA is due to the teacher the day the student returns to school. Failure to submit work and comlete the ISA may result in loss of future ISA opportunities.
The ISA is available in the office or by clicking HERE.
