SHORT TERM INDEPENDENT STUDY AGREEMENT (STIS)
If it is necessary for parents to keep their children out of school for planned absences up to 15 days per school year, the District requests that a Short Term Independent Study Agreement (STIS) be used as an alternative to classroom instruction. An STIS allows teachers to assign work to be completed while the student is absent to help the student stay current with their classes and to excuse the absences.
The request for an STIS should be made at least 5 school days prior to the planned absence. To request an STIS please use the STIS Request Form link above. If you will be out of the country, please email the name of the country and the dates to Christine Eiler at ceeiler@capousd.org.
The STIS will be initiated through InformedK12 and an email will be sent to you prompting you to sign and forward the STIS. The STIS will be verified and forwarded to the teacher(s) so they can assign work and provide any required support materials, prior to the start of the STIS.
All work assigned as part of the STIS is due to the teacher(s) the day the student returns to school. Failure to submit work and complete the STIS may result in loss of future STIS opportunities
